Back from "Fall Fling"

I just got back from my "Fall Fling" with my Dad, Brother and Sister-in-law. My Mom started the family tradition of having a "Fall Fling". Some people call it a fall foliage tour. My family calls it a "Fall Fling". We went up into northern Missoui to an Old Order Amish community of Jamesport, MO. The countryside was full of beautiful fall leaves, fields of corn ready for harvest, rolling green hills with cattle grazing and the sounds of the clip-clap of the Amish horse and buggies. We also spent a day in Stanberry, MO stomping on the very ground where my Grandmother Hildred Smith Nixon grew up. We were in the very HEARTLAND of AMERICA! I was reminded in my heart of how blessed that I am to have been born an American and to have been born to Christian parents, whose parents were Christians. The song, "America the Beautiful" kept going through my head as we drove the backroads of Missouri...
AMERICA the BEAUTIFUL
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed His grace of thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassion'd stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness.
America! America!
God mend thine ev'ry flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law.
O beautiful for heroes prov'd
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved,
And mercy more than life.
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness,
And ev'ry gain divine.
O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears.
America! America!

OCTOBER is here

my favorite time of the year! And it's just a few days until our next COOL CROP (Vickie finally named our crops) at the Russellville, Arkansas Boys and Girls Club on October 18, 2008. The crop is full and Teresa's class is sold out. If you didn't get in, be sure to come SHOP at the Scrap Shack.

I few lucky croppers got to buy some of Scrap Shack's brand new fall emblishments at Teresa's "Dream in Color" class yesterday. All of you are going to want to buy one of everything. Teresa had to have two of each of the Fancy Pants fall glitter cuts.

A BIG THANKS to Debbie Moudy for inviting the Scrap Shack to set up at her crop at the Dardanelle Church of Christ last Friday. There were 30 plus croppers and shoppers. Get Happy Crop a Great Success!

Thanks to all of you "HAPPY" croppers for making our crop soooo much fun. April's class was a great hit. How many of you croppers would like to have her back? I dropped a hint to her for National Scrapbook Day 2009. Yes, we are planning that far in advance. In the mean time, watch your email from Vickie to announce sign ups for the October 18th crop. And save those bucks for the NEW fall items that Teresa and I ordered at CHA.

ALMOST the 4th of July

I went to my company picnic at beautiful Cove Lake yesterday. My Son and his family came too...so I got lots of pictures of them. And guess what? They were wearing red, white and blue. These will be perfect pictures for the Liberty page kit by Scenic Route; however, they are not on the 4th of July. Then I remembered Teresa's page "Born almost on the 4th of July" about her son that was born on the 3rd of July and I decided that my pages could be about pictures taken on "Almost the 4th of July". Well it's that or nothing since it stormed on and off on the 4th and I did not take a single picture.

August 2nd Crop

I've been busy getting the Scrap Shack ready for our next crop on August 2nd, 2008. I will be cohosting the crop with Vickie. This class is a steal at $5!!! I'm signed up for this one! We still have a few spots for the crop and for April's class. Location is the Boy's and Girl's Club in Russellville, Arkansas. OK, I almost forgot...Teresa has taken the new Liberty page kit by Scenic Route and made NINE layouts to display at the crop. Bring your cameras because you will want to scraplift them!!! A limited supply of these kits will be available for purchase at 25% off. The Scrap Shack is having it's biggest sale ever (I just love a sale!). ALL regular priced items will be 25% off. There is a TON of ribbon for 10 cents a yard. And...there's MORE! EVERY cropper will receive 40% off one regular priced item with any additional purchase.
